When performing tasks at home, my wife noticed that the stone in her engagement ring was missing and one of the prongs was broken and another damaged. Luckily, she found the stone in the same room she was working. We later visited Kate (the owner) of "Marks of Design" to ... consult with her regarding repair of the ring. My wife and I were a bit apprehensive since the ring/stone is reasonably valuable, holds significant sentimental value, and has never changed hands since we were engaged >30 years ago. However, Kate makes you feel comfortable, is informative, and provides you with an excellent first impression. We returned days later and left my wife's engagement ring and stone with Kate's employee who assured us that the ring would be secured and repaired in the coming days. Days later, we received a call informing us that the ring was ready for pick-up. My wife was excited and when she saw the quality of the work Kate performed, she was impressed (and very happy). Her ring looked like new (following a complimentary cleaning). It should be noted that Kate and her staff conduct themselves in a very professional manner and are personable. In addition, the repair work performed was prompt, the quality was excellent, and the cost was very reasonable. I'm usually too intimidated to go into fine jewelry stores, but a friend convinced me to go to one of their shows and raffles in Shelton....hey, I thought worst thing that can happen is I get free wine and snacks. I recently visited this store for the first time. Wow it is beautiful! Purple is my favorite color and this store is full of purple! I came by to have the battery in my Bulova watch changed and to drop off my wedding band and engagement rings to be replated. ... The watch was repaired in about 10 minutes and they had to send the rings out for replating. I browsed their jewelry while I waited and what gorgeous engagement rings they had. My fiance and I got my engagement ring and our wedding bands as a custom design at Marks of design. I cannot say enough about the quality of service and quality of products. They sketched out a pic of our custom designs and gave us an honest price. We had ... previously went to and independent goldsmith and was asked our price range and then proceeded to give us a quote of our max price. Marks was half of what the other independent designer quoted us at. From the beginning to end of the engagement ring to wedding bands was a pleasurable experience. I would highly recommend them.
